About Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns, born Leati Joseph Anoa'i on May 25, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida, is a prominent American professional wrestler and former football player. He played defensive tackle at Georgia Tech from 2003 to 2006, serving as team captain his senior year and earning First-Team All-ACC honors. After a brief football career, including time with the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos and NFL teams Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars, Reigns transitioned to professional wrestling, signing with WWE in 2010[1][2][4]. Reigns debuted on WWE's main roster in 2012 as part of the faction The Shield, alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. The group quickly became a dominant force in WWE, winning multiple championships. After The Shield's disbandment, Reigns emerged as a main event player, winning the 2015 Royal Rumble and capturing his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series 2015. He has since amassed multiple major titles, including four WWE World Championships, two WWE Universal Championships, and other titles such as the Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Championships[1][2][3][4]. Known by nicknames like "The Tribal Chief" and "The Head of the Table," Reigns is characterized by signature moves including the spear, Superman punch, and guillotine choke. His reign as Universal Champion has been especially notable, holding the longest WWE Universal Championship reign at over 1300 days. He leads the Bloodline faction, a dominant wrestling family group featuring members of his Samoan heritage[2][5]. Reigns has been involved in prominent storylines and matches, including main events at WrestleMania and high-profile rivalries with wrestlers such as Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, and The Fiend Bray Wyatt. In 2018, he publicly revealed his battle with leukemia had returned, leading to him relinquishing the Universal Title temporarily before making a strong comeback in 2020[5]. Currently, Reigns remains a central figure in WWE on the SmackDown brand, holding the status of undisputed WWE Universal Champion and continuing to influence the landscape of professional wrestling[4][5].
